Indonesia’s Pertamina, through its subsidiary PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore Southeast Sumatra (PHE OSES), has made an oil and gas discovery in the Central Business Unit (CBU) District of the OSES Block.

The discovery follows the drilling of the Fanny-2 exploration well located in the Angel Cluster Exploration Complex Area, which is 2km west of Sabira Island, Kepulauan Seribu.

Following the drilling work, the firm discovered oil and gas in the sandstone layer of the Talang Akar Formation. Production test at the Lower Zelda layer 44 (DST#2) resulted in a gas flow of 4.95 million standard cubic feet (MMscfd) and 241 barrels of condensate per day (bcpd) on choke 28/64”.

It also discovered oil deposits in the Middle Zelda Layer in DST#3.

Permaina upstream subholding exploration director Medi Kurniawan said: “The discovery of oil and gas from the Fanny-2 well is proof that new ideas, new enthusiasm in working on old brownfields such as the OSES block, are giving positive results.”

The Indonesian national oil company said that the drilling of the Fanny-2 well is part of post-restructuring regional strategy, which aims to accelerate the development of undeveloped resources in the Angel Cluster Area.

The state-owned oil and gas company expects the Angel Cluster Area to immediately contribute to sustainable production in the PHE OSES Area.

It is also expected to support the country’s production target of reaching one million barrels per day (bpd) of oil and 12 billion standard cubic feet per day (bscfd) of gas by 2030.
